10 Questions about Our Snail Mail Club

You might be wondering what on earth is a snail mail club? Here I have put the ten most commonly asked questions I get about our mail subscription

1. What is a Snail Mail Club?

Snail mail clubs are subscription services or community projects delivering curated, physical, and analog media—such as art prints, stickers, letters, and zines—directly to your mailbox to encourage slow communication and connection. These, often artist-run, projects provide monthly or quarterly surprises aimed at reducing digital burnout and fostering a tangible community connection.

2. Why do people join a Snail Mail Club?

Usually, it is because they are looking for connection, they want to get something lovely in the mail each month (which is not a bill), they are looking for support, and a way to feel special. The fact that it is offline is a great way to people to take time out, and be in the moment without any distractions.

3. What gets sent out in a Snail Mail club?

It depends on the club, but there is always a letter, the rest of the contents vary it might be a poem, artwork, a recipe or crossword.  In my fertility club each month I handwrite you a letter, there is a nourishing recipe written by a fertility nutritionalist, a positive affirmation, a mindful moment card with an activity and a surprise gift which changes each month.

4. When do I get my Snail Mail Club letter?

Usually, each snail mail subscription club sends out its letters once a month.  We send out ours on the 1st of the month, or slightly earlier if the 1st is on a weekend.

5. What happens if my Snail Mail Club letter doesn’t turn up?

Great question, depending on where you live, our letters are sent from Portland, Maine, USA, by USPS, which is regular mail, no tracking.  If you are in the USA I’d say allow 2 weeks after 1st of the month, before you start worrying.  If you are outside the USA allow 3 weeks, so around 21st of the month. Then, if nothing has arrived get in touch.  Unfortunately , we have no control over the USA postal system, but we can give you the option to get it resent or get a refund.  We hate it when things don’t arrive.

6. Do you ship internationally?

Yes, as I mentioned in Q5 everything is sent from the USA, we do charge a bit extra for letters sent outside the USA, as the postage costs more.  Yep, we know it sucks, maybe one day we will have so many subscribers that we can have club ambassadors in each country sending out the letters…

7. When do I need to order by to get the next month’s letter?

We ask that you order before the 25th of the month to get the next month’s letter sent to you.  So if you order on April 20th your first letter will be sent on May 1st, or if you order on April 25th your first letter will be sent on May 1st, but if you order on April 26th your first letter will be sent on June 1st – although if we have enough bits and pieces we will try to include you in the May month, it just depends on how many last minute members we have.  Either way, we will keep you posted.

8. What happens if I want to cancel my subscription?

You can cancel ANYTIME before the 25th of the month, and we won’t send you the following month’s letter.  So if you cancel on May 1st you won’t get June’s letter, or if you cancel on April 26th you won’t get June’s letter.  Hopefully that makes sense 🙂

9. What happens if I move house?

Just get in touch, and we can update your address for you in our records.

10. What is the monthly gift?

Great question, well first up it is a surprise each month, I try to choose something that is relaxing, easy, fun and interesting, plus not the same thing every month.  Bear in mind it needs to fit in an envelope, so it won’t be a cuddly toy, a candle, or an apple!  I try to think what would I like to get, what would make me feel loved and special and that is what I choose!
